Tamper Evident Security Bags: Low to High Security Features

With my latest video on YouTube I’ll be explaining some of the more basic and advanced features you’re likely to come across.

In general you’re likely to find three levels of security: Low, Medium, and High. This will vary with the usage and needs of the security bag.

In this video I review three of PolyPak America’s Armorite products and the different security features between them.

Tamper Evident Security Bags: Low to High Security Features

Hey everyone!

Welcome to The Poly Bag Pro blog again.

Today we’re going to go over tamper evident security bags and specifically the three levels of bags or security you’re likely to find out there in the market.

Now if you’re watching this on the blog (which you are) be sure to comment below and let me know what you think or any experiences you’ve had with tamper evident security bags.

Of course if you’re seeing this on YouTube (which you’re not) be sure to visit the blog at www.polybagpro.com.

There’s a lot of other really great and useful information about polybags and the plastics industry there. Specifically as it relates to my experience as an Account Executive for PolyPak America.

So like I mentioned, there are three levels of security you’re likely to come across as it relates to tamper evident security bags.

  • Low
  • Medium
  • High

Easy enough!

Armorite Tamper Evident Security BagsEach level has certain attributes that give it that amount of security.

The low security bags are likely to have a simplistic design, were as the high security bags are going to be much more advance and have many more features.

Today I’m going to go over three stock tamper evident security bags that PolyPak America produces. We actually have our own brand of security bags called Armorite.

They’re really great and look very very cool.

You’re going to see a definite difference between the low and high level security bags.

Low Level Tamper Evident Security Bags – Cash Transmittal Bag

Armorite Cash Transmittal BagThe first one we’ll go over is the low security bags and we call this a Armorite Cash Transmittal Bag.

As you can see it’s pretty straight forward. This is a 6″x9″ bag.

One thing about the low security bags is they have a smaller seal then you’re likely to find on any other security bags. So if you peal off the liner strip, there’s not much too it. It’s pretty simplistic. It’s one strip of adhesive.

You’re also notice that it’s clear. Although it does have some writable surface. You can track basic information like:

  • The Date
  • The Register Information
  • Who Handled It
  • How Much Is In It

But again, if you put any money into it, it’s going to be very visible.

On the side it’s a single heat seal so it’s just a matter of clamping down a heat sealerTamper Evident Security Bags (affiliate link) and sealing it.

But because of this, it can be cut into if the thief is really sophisticated and really wants to get inside the bag. Hence, a low security bag.

The print on the front is pretty basic. Most of it is so that someone else can write on it with a Sharpie. There’s not much to that.

And then at the bottom, there’s a perforation. This is for easy access once it’s been delivered to its intended destination.

Now these bags are likely to be used at retail stores, or maybe restaurants when someone is closing out a cash registrar at the end of their shift. And its really only going to go with the manager to the bank or into a safe.

Basically it’s not intended to trade too many hands, too many untrusted hands, or unkown hands. Thats why it’s a lower level security bag.

You’re not too worried about it falling into the wrong hands.

Medium Level Tamper Evident Security Bags – Night Deposit Bag

Armorite Night Deposit BagNow when we move to medium level security things start to get quite different.

Here’s our Armorite Night Deposit Bag. As you can see it’s quite a bit different then the low security bag.

What you’ll immediately notice is the graphics on the front.

You might notice it’s a mesh design. This is so that if anyone were to cut into the bag, and tried to seal it back up, it’s going to be very hard to match the mesh lines up together again.

So it’s going to be extremely evident that someone tried to get in there.

The adhesive is much wider and thicker so that when it’s sealed it’s going to be much harder to open.

It’s also opaque so you can’t see through it. You can put money, cash, jewelry, documents, or whatever into this bag and once it’s sealed, until it’s opened again, no one is going to know whats in it.

On the front you’ll also notice a number there.

Now what’s great about the PolyPak America’s Armorite Security Bags is that they have sequential numberings. Especially on the Night Deposit Bag and Cash Security Bag which I’ll go over next.

This number is on the bottom and again at the top on the receipt. So once you’ve filled it up, sealed it, then the giving party will keep a receipt and the receiving party will have the bag with the matching sequential number. You’ll also know the next bag number off this run for added security.

Since they are in sequential order, you can track your packages or security bags much more easily with that.

The seal is a little bit different then the low security bag because it is a wide seal. It’s a much wider so that if someone were trying to get into it they would have a much harder time. They’d have to get really advanced.

They’d have to heat or melt the glue or even try to freeze it to get in there.

You’re not simply going to be able to cut into it.

And lastly this bag has what’s called fold-over construction so there’s no perforation on this.

There’s a dotted line, yes, absolutely. And thats where it should be cut.

Poly Bag Pro Tip: Tamper Evident Security Bags should always be opened from the bottom. Never from the side, never from the top. This way you know for sure it hasn’t been tampered with. It’s opened as it should be.

But with medium level security bags, there’s no perforation.

So this is again the Night Deposit Bag. PolyPak America keep this as a stock item. You can actually order them on our eStore which includes free shipping.

High Level Tamper Evident Security Bags – Cash Security Bag

Armorite Cash Security BagNow when we move one step up to our high security bag we have the Armorite Cash Security Bag. This is pretty much as high tech as you’re going to find out there.

Again you’ll notice that there is security graphics on the front. The mesh so that if someone were to try and cut into it, it would be very hard for them to match the lines up again.

This security bag is clear. Like any PolyPak America bag, it can be custom made opaque if that is what you need.

PolyPak can make any kind of security bag. We can customize it as much as you need so whatever your heart desires we can make it.

This stock item though is clear.

On the sides it has what’s called a mix seal. Not only is it a wider seal but there’s a secondary seal along the bottom that makes it even harder for someone to get into it, at least when going through the sides.

Now this tamper evident bag, in addition to having sequential numbers, has a barcode. This can be scanned and is often used by companies who have armored transport services that come and pick up the security bags.

For example, cash advance places, or major retailers that have a lot of cash transactions will use a bag like this.

Again it has the dotted line at the bottom, but there’s no perforation. It also has the fold-over construction at the bottom.

Tamper Evident VOID SealAnd then one thing I’m sure you noticed is that the seal is much different.

This is called a void seal. When this is closed, a void seal is very difficult to open.

These adhesives are especially strong, at least when compared to the single use adhesives like you’re going to see on the Cash Transmittal Bags and Night Deposit Bags.

It’s called a void seal becuase after being sealed, when tampering is attempted, it will leave a clearly evident void marker.

It’ll leave half of it on the original seal, and half of it on the actual bag so that you know when someone’s tried to get into it.

Another attribute common to high level security is that they tend to be a thicker gauge. This is so someone can’t puncture it, tear it, or get into it easily. It just adds that extra layer of protection.

So these are some of the more advanced features that you’re going to find on tamper evident security bags whether it’s for low or high level security.

Again, PolyPak America can customize a security bag to your heart’s desire. Make sure if you are interested in tamper evident security bags to find a manufacturer that can do just that. One that can meet your needs and your exact attributes as needed.
